Workshop Description:
We all know that moving is good for us. Moving well is even better. In fact, poor movement habits repeated often, and over time, can cause us injury, aches, stiffness, tightness, tension, strain, or pain. In this three-hour workshop with Via Anderson, you will discover how to move your body in every plane of motion easily, intelligently, and without pain. Practicing how to move with intelligence is like Goldilocks and the Three Bears: you will be looking for movement that is not too much and not too little, rather just right for you. From that discovery, you will start to reduce or eliminate pain (tightness, tension, etc.) and you will increase your confidence, your mobility, your stability, and your endurance. Your posture will improve and you will move better in everyday life, your yoga practice, and your athletic endeavors.

This workshop is designed for yoga students, yoga instructors, health care professionals, seniors, athletes, and just about anyone who wants to apply the principles of yoga, anatomy, biomechanics, and functional movement to their yoga/movement practice or to help their students/clients do the same. It is grounded in the 8 Principles of Movement espoused by Susi Hately of Functional Synergy.

Details on Via
Via Anderson is a 74-year-old grandmother with a pacemaker who embodies intelligent movement for herself and helps others do the same. She believes that moving intelligently is the elixir of healthy living. Via is the founder of Intelligent Movement Forever, whose mission is to help you unlock your intelligent, pain-free movement for better performance and health longevity.

Via uses her unique blend of yoga and movement training to help her clients discover their own movement patterns and learn how to move purely, without compensation and without pain. Inspired and informed by modern-day yoga and movement heroes, Via is equipped to work with athletes, seniors, persons with injuries, and persons who have (until now) resisted movement, helping them to erase pain, perform better, and live better in their bodies. She taught her first Yoga class in 2002 and has been gathering tools for intelligent movement, including Yoga Tune Up®, BASI Pilates, Ki-Hara Resistance Stretching, and Functional Synergy for herself and her students and clients ever since. In December of 2015, she completed Susi Hately’s 7-day Functional Synergy training, “Kinesiology of Yoga & Therapeutic Yoga Intensive” at Davannayoga in Puerto Vallarta.
