Every human movement requires balance. The primary purposed of our balance system is to keep us from falling. Yet our balance diminishes over time for many reasons, including disuse. To maintain our balance we need to challenge our balance. But our modern lifestyle does the opposite – it tries to make us more comfortable with smooth floors & sidewalks & shoes that protect our feet from feeling the uneven ground underneath us. There is an epidemic of injuries and deaths from falling. The good news is that it is never too early and never too late to improve our balance. Intelligent movements that challenge and improve our balance will help us move better and increases our sense of well-being.
